Hi, I’m Jessica and I’m a triathlete.
I live in Miami, Florida, but I grew up in Syracuse, New York (go Orange!). I spent eight years in north Delaware before moving to Miami. I’ve been a runner all my life, but got into triathlons once I moved to Delaware, in 2006. I was tired of getting injured all the time with just running, and a little bored with it to be honest. So far, I’ve done three Iron-distance races, a handful of 70.3’s, and lots of other races. You can see my results in my Athlinks profile.
When I started out, I was an ok triathlete, a middle of the pack finisher. I’ve come a long way, and I’m so excited to keep going. I have some big dreams about what I can do with this sport. I work with Full Circle Coaching here in Miami. I love the approach Erinne takes; she focuses on balance and being able to meet the requirements of everything you do – work, personal, and triathlon, and do it in a way that won’t wreck your body for when you’re 80. I absolutely love this sport and want to do it forever, so it’s important to me to preserve myself so I can do that.
I started this blog mainly as an outlet for me. I get a lot out of writing and working through my thoughts and concepts rolling around in my head, and since I’m a nerd at heart, a blog is the right format for me (I need a delete key, just in case!). I’m also at the point where I feel like I’ve learned so much about triathlon that maybe I can share some of what I’ve picked up and help someone else along their journey. Everyone is different, but I’ve found that once I hear a concept and figure out how to apply it to myself, I’m that much better for it.
Happy training, friends!
